Jimmie Dale Gilmore Headlines Next Texas Songwriter Series Concert December 12

TYLER, TX

Two generations in a Texas music dynasty take center stage for the next concert in the Tyler Museum of Art’s Texas Songwriter Series, as Grammy-nominated icon Jimmie Dale Gilmore joins forces with his son, rising Americana star Colin Gilmore, on Friday, Dec. 12.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 14 for this next show in the TMA’s recently revitalized music series. The music tunes up at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 in Tyler Junior College’s Jean Browne Theatre, located in TJC’s Wise Fine Arts Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for TMA members and $25 for non-members in advance, and $30 at the door (pending availability). Ticket holders are invited for a post-show reception at the TMA immediately following the concert, with dessert and coffee provided by Starbucks. Concert seating is limited, so patrons are encouraged to make early reservations by calling (903) 595-1001.

“The response was so enthusiastic when we brought back this series with Joe Ely and Joel Guzman back in May, it was obvious we had a hot ticket on our hands,” TMA Head of Education Katie Powell said. “With a legacy dating back to the Flatlanders (along with Ely and Butch Hancock) in the early ’70s, Jimmie Dale Gilmore was an ideal choice to headline the next concert, and we’ve already had a flood of calls in anticipation of his performance. We strongly encourage everyone to reserve their tickets as soon as they go on sale, because they won’t last long.”

In lieu of the standard concert format of opening act followed by headliner, the Dec. 12 show will feature “the Gilmores taking advantage of sharing the same bill to put their shared musical heritage on display,” Ms. Powell said. “They’ll perform some numbers individually, then others as a father-and-son duo, for a truly memorable night of Texas music.”

Major concert sponsor is RBC Wealth Management. Event sponsors are Claudia and Otis Carroll, Sandy and Joe Shepard, and Tyler Junior College, with special thanks to Ron Gleason and Starbucks.

Up next in the Texas Songwriter Series is a performance featuring Tyler native Adam Carroll, joining Grammy Award winners Lloyd Maines and Terri Hendrix, scheduled for Friday, March 20. For more information and tickets, call (903) 595-1001 or visit www.tylermuseum.org.
