September 7 – December 9, 2012
The Tyler Museum of Art is organizing the exhibition The Wyeths Across Texas. Comprising approximately 35 paintings and works on paper, it will be the first major exhibition featuring N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth to be presented in Texas since 1987 when the Dallas Museum of Art hosted An American Vision: Three Generations of Wyeth Art, organized by the Brandywine Museum in Pennsylvania.
Drawn primarily from Texas collections, this important exhibition will bring to the public—and a whole new generation—the opportunity to experience paintings by America’s most famous family of artists since Charles Willson Peale (1741-1847) and his offspring.
The Tyler Museum of Art is proud to offer a number of events related to The Wyeths Across Texas.
When the exhibition opens, Victoria Wyeth, the only grandchild of Andrew Wyeth, will guide tours throughout the exhibition.
Ms. Wyeth will also present the first lecture in the TMA Fall Lecture Series.
"The Life and Times of Andrew Wyeth" presented by Victoria Wyeth will take place Septmber 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jean Browne Theatre located on the TJC campus.
All tour spots and lectures require tickets.
Other events include Family Days, First Friday Art Tours and lectures.
