All scheduled elementary and middle school classes receive a tour packet for advanced preparation and a 1½ hour visit to the Museum, including a guided tour and an exhibition-related art activity. Tours for high school and college classes last 1 hour and do not include an art activity, unless arranged with the Education Department. All guided tours must be scheduled and paid at least two weeks in advance. For more information, contact the Education Department.
TEACHER-LED STUDENT TOURS
Teachers are welcome to bring their students for their own tour during Museum hours, however we request that there be at least 1 adult for every 10 students. We recommend that you call in advance to schedule your visit (903-595-1001). Some exhibitions require an entrance fee; discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL ART EXHIBITION
Each year the TMA puts on an annual High School Art Exhibition, a juried exhibition of original works by local high school art students. The works are originally selected for entry into the exhibition by the students’ teachers. Prior to the opening of the exhibition, the pieces are judged by a panel of jurors selected by the TMA curatorial staff from local artists and college art departments. The aim of the exhibition is to give local high school students the opportunity to participate in a professional art exhibition in a museum setting. For more information on how you may become involved, please contact the Education Department.
The TMA is pleased to offer teachers free of charge:
